The Teresa Camozzi Studios has extensive experience collaborating with public and private institutions in creating site-specific public projects with over 200 realized commissions.
Our approach to art is organic. Each commission begins with my experiencing the site, gaining insight into the harmonies or discords which unify or confront each space. I research the land, the history, and the people who continue to transform and be transformed by the site. Through collected interviews, critical research and personal interpretation, I arrive at the content and aesthetic design specific to the site’s unique environment and visitors. I rely on inquiry and experimentation and strive to create work that is interactive. After the initial research, I create both three-dimensional models and animations to clearly illustrate the concept. With approval or alteration, I continue to manage studio staff, manufacturers and contractors to realize installation and finalize maintenance documents.
We specialize in transparent and semi-transparent media such as glass and polyester resin fabricated in any color by employing proprietary methods of tinting with iridescent and metallic powders. The transparency of these materials facilitates superimposition, allowing varying imagery. The Camozzi Art Studio is also well-versed in the traditional methods of photography, oil and acrylic painting, and the ancient method of encaustic wax painting. Our collaboration with exceptional tile and glass makers allows us to embed artwork within tile flooring that can be used in even heavy pedestrian traffic areas as well as reproduce my photography on to glass. All of our materials are reliable in both interior and exterior locations, and all of the materials utilized are provided with archival guarantees.
